Valentin Puts the Pieces Together as Charlotte Plays Her Hand — and Sam and Sasha Pull the Trap Shut On Gladys

Gladys is shocked GH

At the hospital, Carly waits while Liz calls for an update on Drew. Elizabeth assures her that the doctor working on Drew is the best. Finn leads Jake away as Liz watches. Carly asks Liz to explain the surgery again, but she still doesn’t get it. Carly wants to know where Dr. Gatlin-Holt is, then looks over and shakes her head as Ava arrives to talk to Nina.

She walks over and, when Ava says she’s sorry to hear about Drew, Carly doubts that. “You’re not really surprised, are you Ava?” She then informs her to cut the act. Carly can’t believe she trusted Ava. She’s sure Ava had something to do with the hit. Austin’s not working today and Ava’s the only other one who knew what was going on. She yells that Drew shouldn’t even be in Pentonville and Ava snaps: “Damn it, Carly, I’m not the one who put him there!” Nina gets uncomfortable.

Sonny joins Anna in the chapel and he admits he’s wondering if the life he chose was worth it. Anna recalls that when she asked before, he didn’t have any regrets, but Sonny tells her Curtis is in the wheelchair because of him and Drew’s fighting for his life because of him. “It’s Pentonville, Sonny. Prisoners are going to start fights for a myriad of reasons.” Sonny then tells her he laid down an order that Drew was safe in Pentonville… and someone defied it.

“This would not have happened five years ago.” Anna agrees and says things are impacting her more than they used to too. “I feel like things are just out of control,” Sonny mourns. Anna understands. “What will we do? Throw in the towel?” Sonny tells her, “Never.” They keep fighting. Anna urges Sonny to check on Carly, so he leaves to do so.

Sonny arrives as Carly’s going off on Ava and demands to know what she’s doing. Carly’s sure Ava did it. But Sonny tells her Carly’s wrong. He knows for a fact Ava didn’t tell anyone. Carly walks off and sighs, “I don’t know. I don’t know.”

Finn leads Jake into the office and promises to make some calls to find out what’s going on with Drew. He makes a call and tells Jake that his uncle is in surgery, but he’s in amazing hands. Jake says he shouldn’t have cried, but Finn tells him there’s nothing wrong with that. He’s cried too when he got bad news about someone he loved. Jake starts to break down again.

Finn asks how he found out about Drew and Jake fills him in just as Liz comes by. She overhears Finn telling Jake he can always talk to him. Jake then breaks down about how his dad died, Franco died, Cameron left, Finn left and now… Finn promises he’s not going anywhere. That’s when Liz walks in. She has an idea.

Charlotte tells Valentin she loves the new place, but when she talks about how much she likes the decorating and wonders who helped do it, she laughs and says “I know it wasn’t Anna.” It’s not her style, “it’s beautiful.” It’s far more comfortable than Wyndemere ever was. Great, Valentin says, she can bring her friends like Jake there. He tries feeling her out a bit, but Charlotte wants to go see her room. Valentin thinks back worriedly on Nina letting her stay the night.

Charlotte comes back out and announces she loves her new room. The decorator did an amazing job. Valentin then broaches the subject of Anna moving in. Seeing as how her house burned down and she’s homeless…

Before he can get far, Valentin gets a call from Uncle Marty and walks off, leaving Charlotte to think back to the letter she got with the cards. “Anna Devane is not who she seems. Do not trust her.” Valentin returns and Charlotte hopes that Uncle Martin and her mom will come back soon. Valentin asks how Charlotte would feel if Anna moves in. “But I need to know. If Anna moving in would make you happy.” She needs to know for the reading… the card reading.

Valentin flashes back to all that’s happened to Anna, the “Murderer,” the arson, the mirror message, all of it. And he ends with Nina and him looking at camera footage, aghast that they found Charlotte.

Sam and Sasha are outside enjoying the weather when Sasha worries that if “this doesn’t work, Cody might never be free again.” Sam urges her to trust Dante, but that doesn’t make Sasha feel better. It’s fine, they’ll prove Dr. Montague and Gladys will both pay and they’ll prove it — after they establish a legal record.

Sasha doesn’t get why Cody’s so determined to protect her. “Maybe he thinks you’re worth it.” Fine, they were becoming friends, but Sasha stabbed him. They go over the pills and how she was delusional, but Sasha still doesn’t understand why he’s putting everything on the line for her.

Sam’s been trying to figure out what Cody’s deal was since he showed up, but she’s decided to trust him. She’s had a pretty “colorful” past too, after all. Sasha then tells Sam she appreciates the risk she’s taking. Sam shrugs it off — they’re all just trying to do the right thing. She gets a text and looks over at Sasha. “Now?”

Cody strides into the PCPD and makes a grand announcement: “Here I am! I surrender!” Chase manhandles Cody and demands to know where Sasha is, but Dante says he should just book the suspect. So Chase slaps handcuffs on him and reads Cody his rights. After he’s booked, Dante suggests they head into the interrogation room, then tells Chase he’s not needed any longer. Cody shrugs once he’s gone.

Gladys runs into the precinct wanting to know where her daughter-in-law is if her kidnapper’s been captured. As Cody and Dante listen in, she tells Chase that she demands to see Sasha’s kidnapper. Gladys makes a big show about being concerned about Sasha, then demands to talk to the commissioner. Cody has to pay!

In the interrogation room, Cody fumes at her “performance.” He can’t wait to testify against her, but Dante tells him he needs to be patient.
Outside, Gladys gets a phone call. It’s Sam, pretending to be from the bank asking about Sasha’s accounts. Gladys is confused. She just paid Sasha’s bills and took care of her financial matters. Banker Sam tells her that they got a subpoena from the DA’s office for all of Sasha’s banking records. They’re going to turn over the records today. They hang up and Sam crosses her fingers.

In the show’s last few minutes, Anna leaves as Finn, Liz and Jake show up and head in. Finn checks in on how Anna’s doing and talks about how much poor Jake’s been through. Anna’s trying to clear her head, and Finn says she’s been through a lot too. He tried calling her, but she never called back. It’s OK, though, she’s been through a lot and she’s got people who are there for her. But he’s her friend too.

Inside, Jake isn’t sure what to do, but Liz says he doesn’t have to do anything. “If you want, you can light a candle for Drew.” Then they should think positive thoughts about Drew getting through his surgery.

Out in the waiting room, Sonny asks if he can get Carly anything, but she doesn’t want anything. Just leave her alone. Drew’s in prison because of her. Sonny heads over to Nina and Ava and says this is just Carly. She lashes out when she’s worried. The three watch as a doctor comes out to talk to Carly. She sits down heavily and Sonny returns and sits next to her.

Sonny calms Carly GH

“Oh my God,” Nina gasps. But when they head over, Sonny tells them Drew made it through surgery and is going to be fine. Everyone apologizes, including Carly for attacking Ava. She then asks to talk to Sonny alone, earning a look from Nina. She thanks Sonny “for being here. Thank you.”

Finn and Liz get the news that Drew’s going to be OK. Elizabeth hugs Jake and Finn heads in to see them. The two adults smile at each other.
Over by the desk, Ava says what Carly did is nothing compared to what she’ll do to Nina if she finds out she put Drew in prison.

Valentin asks where Charlotte got the cards. She says a girl gave them to her at camp… then flashes back to reading a letter from Victor. He gave them to her because “they’re powerful tools. You’ll find them helpful.” She lays out a spread as Valentin glares at them.

At the precinct, Chase asks how things are going with Cody, while Gladys is trying to make a panicked getaway and gets a knock on her door. It’s Sasha.
