Serving of Unjust Desserts Put a Comeback On the Menu — Plus, Nina’s Tragedy May Just Be [Spoiler’s] Triumph

Due to Major League Baseball, it was a short week in Port Charles, but it was a great week for the fans. General Hospital viewers livid with Gladys finally got to see her get what’s been coming to her, and Sasha’s long nightmare come to an end. Aside from learning a little more about Charlotte’s motivation, the only other big developments were Chase learning the truth about his dad, and Sonny and Nina revealing their big wedding news.

Ding Dong the Witch is Gone!

After last week’s backstabbing twist where Gladys betrayed Sasha and sent her back to Ferncliff, to say viewers were furious is an understatement. Many hoped that there was a plan in place to save Sasha, as well as nail Gladys and Dr. Montague, but it seems like there really wasn’t. Cody convinced Dante to take him back to Ferncliff knowing Sasha would need him, so at least Cody was on top of things. Still, they just let Sasha go back knowing she’d be in danger. Bad PCPD! Also, it just came across as if Dante and Cody arrived at just the right time to stop Dr. Montague, who was on the verge of killing a terrified Sasha, on pure luck. Hey, I’m glad it’s finally over, but it felt like there should have been a plan so Sasha didn’t have to face another round of terror from Dr. Montague. And if there was no plan, which there didn’t seem to be, I would have liked to have seen Sasha be the one to fight Montague off of her… after he confessed in front of Janice, and perhaps stuck him with his own syringe. Sasha should have been given the opportunity to be her own hero!

Montague takes Sasha hostage GH

Now though, Montague’s been arrested, Sasha knows the truth about Gladys, and she and Cody are finally free… to explore something more between them hopefully. However, I could see this being where the truth about Cody and Mac is revealed, and for causes big problems for Cody, who is trying to defraud the WSB along with Scott over that damn necklace. Though for once, Scott isn’t in on the con, he just wants a payday as usual

Sam stopping Gladys from leaving town, and Gladys begging Sam not to leave her alone with Sonny was a great scene. Suddenly Gladys finds Sam, who she’s constantly insulted, useful! But as Sonny pointed out, that’s her M.O., she uses everyone around her. Sonny taking off his jacket and suggesting Gladys confess to unburden her soul before what came next was a great intimidation scene. Alas for those who really wanted Sonny to give her a pair of cement shoes, instead he banished her back to Bridgeport. Yes, it’s not the ending many wanted, hell Gladys isn’t even going to jail to visit her old friend Cyrus! I wasn’t expecting them to kill the character though, as Bonnie Burroughs is too good of an actress for them to axe her character permanently. Plus, Gladys doesn’t seem like the sort of character that would be one to come back from the dead. One day, we will likely see Gladys again. Until then, she’s outta here!

Sonny done with Gladys lies GH

Daddy’s Little Firebug

After everything Anna and Valentin have gone through to be together to have him lying to her to protect Charlotte is not what I saw for ‘Vanna’ at this point in their story. It’s definitely a different storyline, and one not involving spy agencies, government ops, or evil supervillains coming between them. Still, I can’t help but want more of an explanation. As Charlotte spied on Anna and Valentin we got to hear the full letter from Victot to her, but it wasn’t anything surprising or shocking, just his words trying to twist her against Anna. As I pondered last week, why would Charlotte believe Victor after all she eventually learned about him, including he was purposely keeping her from his Papa? It’s just not adding up…

Charlotte is a bad seed GH

Friday’s show gave a little more insight into what other than Victor could be driving Charlotte, and that’s her love for Nina and her Papa. When she found Nina had dropped by the new house, she was over the moon, far happier than when she had spied on her father with Anna earlier in the day in the same home. She even suggested they go on a trip to Europe, just the three of them, as they always talked about. Nina didn’t think Anna would like that and basically made no mention of Sonny not approving either, so Charlotte settled on just a trip for her and Nina. When she watched as Nina and Valentin embraced during their goodbye, she had an entirely different expression on her face than she did when she spied on the same exchange between Anna and Valentin earlier. When Nina and Sonny blow up, how long before Charlotte tries to Parent Trap Valentin and Nina?

Other Odds’n’Ends

Tracy mentioning to Finn that she was back on the General Hospital board sure makes it sound like Granny Tracy is planning to stick around Port Charles for a while. She also stepped in it when she accidentally spilled the beans to Chase that his father had ALS. Hey, someone had to eventually tell him!

Trina and Spencer’s last day in New York, spending it in bed confiding their feelings to one another, was cute. I still can’t help but wonder if that’s as good as it’s going to get for them for a while given the problems they’re likely to face when they get home from Portia and Esme.

I was glad Sonny and Nina separately made mention in Friday’s episode of not being able to get in touch with Ava because, after last week’s cliffhanger ending, we’ve seen no hair nor hide of Ava! I guess we are to assume Avery is still with Carly?

Friday had Sonny and Nina telling everyone about their plans to elope on the islands next week, with Michael and Willow pondering if they should go given things are going well between them, Sonny and Nina. For those who have been waiting for Nina’s big downfall, it’s looking like you won’t have to wait much longer! Especially with Michael mentioning he has someone at the SEC looking into who tipped them off about Drew and Carly. And don’t forget Dante saying it’s a good thing they are eloping, as a big Port Charles wedding would be tempting a disaster. It’s looking like a tropical depression is about to hit Nina…

That’s my thoughts on this abbreviated week of General Hospital. Join in the conversation and leave yours in the comment section below!
