Amelia Heinle Shares a Precious Memory of Her Longtime Leading Man

Over the course of Billy Miller’s 2008-14 run as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless, he worked opposite myriad leading ladies, from Christel Khalil (Lily) to Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe). But perhaps no actress on the soap shared more scenes with the Emmy winner than Amelia Heinle, who plays Victoria Newman — arguably Billy’s true love.
Since Miller’s passing on September 17, many of his colleagues at Young & Restless, General Hospital (where he replaced Steve Burton as Jason Morgan before being revealed as his twin brother, Drew Cain) and All My Children (where he made his daytime debut as Richie Novak) have paid loving tribute to the actor and shared their memories. (You can read them here.) A fan put together a particularly amazing clip package, too. (You can watch it here.)
Then, on September 30, Heinle joined the heartbroken chorus. What she posted to Instagram, though, wasn’t just a bittersweet anecdote or a celebration of Miller’s talent and charisma. It was, it appeared, something he’d told her back in 2010. “My favorite thing growing up,” began the post, “was hiding out from the rain in our little barn with a tin roof on it.
“It’s still my favorite sound,” he added. “Listening to it coming down and the way it gave me peace.”
Here’s hoping that Miller has found that kind of peace again.
