One such character is Audra Charles. She has literally gone from an enigmatic newcomer to a central figure in a fraction of time. The actress behind the character, Zuleyka Silver recently sat down to share her thoughts on Audra’s transformation and the interesting twists in her character’s journey. Let’s hear it from her!
Audra’s Unpredictable Journey On Y&R
When Audra first entered Genoa City roughly a year ago, viewers were wondering about her true intentions, especially in her relationship with Noah. Silver admitted this initial curiosity, saying, “People were like, ‘Who’s this chick, and what is her intention with Noah?”. However, as Audra’s character evolved into a scheming force to be reckoned with, the audience started responding to her in surprising ways.
The Young and the Restless star express her excitement in watching Audra’s character develop over time. “There are so many layers to her now,” she marvels. “She’s very ambitious and focused on getting what she wants, but she also likes getting a rise out of people. That makes her fun to play.”
Lately, Audra faced an unexpected situation: Adam’s blackmail and Kyle’s insistence on revealing the truth to Nikki and Victor. This twist deeply unsettled her. Silver said, “This is the first time we’ve seen her rattled.” Audra never expected her past involvement with a rock star to resurface years later. This caused an inner turmoil and clouded judgment to her.
The Young And The Restless: Silver Spills On Audra’s Tense Dynamic With Nikki
However, Audra’s troubles don’t end there. One person on The Young and the Restless sees through her facade and its none other than, Nikki. Silver reveals, “Nikki doesn’t trust Audra.” It’s a unique dynamic, considering Nikki holds the power to end Audra’s career with a single decision. Yet, Nikki refrains from taking such drastic action. Silver speculates that maybe Nikki sees something of herself in Audra, or perhaps she admires Audra’s boldness!
Well we don’t know what Nikki’s up to with Audra, but one is for sure that, the tension between Nikki and Audra will continue to simmer. But that’s not all! Silver teases that there’s fun stuff coming up between them. Nikki’s not done trying to put Audra in her place! While the characters may be at odds on screen, behind the scenes, Silver says she feels lucky to work with soap opera legends Melody Thomas Scott and Eric Braeden, who play Nikki and Victor, respectively.
She expresses her immense respect for their work ethic and appreciates their support as a newcomer to the show. Especially when it comes to working with Eric, one must undoubtedly bring your A-game. “In those scenes, I’m ready for anything,” she laughs. “It really makes you slow down and listen and be in the moment, and it reminds you why you got into acting in the first place.” Although Audra is a negative character, her performances have always made to the center of attention.
