Remembering John Aniston on the One-Year Anniversary of His Passing

John Aniston, who for more than three decades portrayed the ruthless, yet often endearing, Victor Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives passed away last year on this date, November 11th, at the age of 89-years-old.

The Daytime Emmy-winning Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, was remembered recently by many of his co-stars at the recent Day of Days 2023 event press junket, and also by his long-running co-star and on-screen wife, Suzanne Rogers.

Back in August of 2023, Rogers celebrated her 50th anniversary with Days of our Lives as Maggie Simmons Horton Kiriakis. During an interview with the Michael Fairman Channel, she spoke of how difficult it was to play Victor’s memorial, which brought back beautiful and heartfelt moments with Aniston through the years.

Jennifer Aniston, the actor’s daughter, recently suffered the lost of her Friends co-star, Matthew Perry and reports have surfaced that Perry’s death combined with that of John’s death a year ago, have been hard for her to bear. Perry was laid to rest last week.

According to a source for Page Six: “It’s a second massive loss in less than a year, with the one-year anniversary of her dad’s death just around the corner. She still hasn’t fully regained her footing from that, and now this has just completely knocked her off her feet.“She is trying to regroup and recover but it’s been a completely devastating blow.”

Back on the September 7th episode of Days of our Lives, the character of Victor was laid to rest some ten months after Aniston’s real-life death. The show featured heart-tugging eulogies from the characters of Sonny (Zach Tinker), Justin (Wally Kurth), Chelsea (Rachel Melvin) and Phillip (John-Paul Lavoisier) and more.

Peter Reckell, who played John Aniston’s biological son on Days of our Lives, the iconic Bo Brady, posted his sentiments on X on the one year anniversary expressing: “Working with John was always so easy. Our material might be dynamic, but our process together was always uncomplicated. Miss you John!”

One year ago, the Days of our Lives Twitter (now X) account shared: “Our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved family member John Aniston. We love you John. Your legend will live on.”

Take a look below at some of our interviews from Days of Days 2023, and with Suzanne Rogers which included moments remembering John Aniston.
