In the jazz lounge, Jill wants to know Mamie’s plans. Mamie isn’t surprised Jill showed up at a private party she’s not invited to, “How rude.” Jill had to come and see if it was her who bought into her company. Mamie tells her how wonderful it is to be able to buy into a successful company and to reconnect with her family. Jill snarks, “Just fabulous.” Lily tells Jill they have missed Aunt Mamie, and Nate backs her up. Mamie’s so happy to reconnect with them and chides Jill that life is fragile. She wants to be with her family and make up for lost time. Jill declares this a crock, “There is something going on underneath all of this and I want to know what the hell it is!”

Jill informs Mamie that they’re very happy as they are, “Right Devon? Lily? Am I missing something here? Did we invite anyone in?” Devon replies, “No, we did not.” Jill declares this a back alley deal they should have been made aware of sooner. She points out Victor was a minority silent partner, who, as far as she knew, had no desire to sell his stake to others, “So, why? Why would he put up his stakes for grabs?” She asks Victoria if she had any part in this. Victoria had no idea. Abby is totally out of the loop as well. Jill asks, “So, why Mamie? Why all the secrecy?” Mamie insists it wasn’t a backroom deal as Jill’s suggesting. Lily argues it was out of the blue — she was just there for the gala… why didn’t she tell them then that she was interested in Chancellor-Winters? Mamie has missed being a regular part of their lives. Devon points out that she didn’t have to invest in the company to spend time with them. Nate thinks it’s a loving gesture. Devon tells Mamie that Nate is not a part of the company and doesn’t speak for them. Lily adds that, thanks to Nate, they’re very wary of family making secretive moves when it comes to the company. Mamie says that’s exactly why she’s there… they need to put the animosity behind them. It’s what Drucilla and Neil would want too. It’s family above all else, “Perhaps I can help you to remember that.”

At Society, Jack and Diane toast and she thanks him for this special moment for the two of them. Jack recounts how he got Abby to close the place for a private party. Music starts playing and they slow dance. Diane admits she’s nervous about tomorrow. She has pre-wedding jitters even though they’ve already married once. Jack thinks it’s a good thing. Diane doesn’t know if she’ll ever get used to feeling so lucky — for so long she didn’t think she deserved happiness. Jack wants to take it a step further and find someone to officiate their marriage at the beginning of the celebration. They can renew their vows in front of the people who love them. “We will seize the day.” Diane agrees, “Let’s do it.”

In the jazz lounge, Mamie questions why Jill only sees shadows and secrets — that’s how her mind thinks. She sees love and togetherness — it’s not about her. Jill knows who Mamie really is and finds it hard not to doubt her motives. Mamie says Devon is correct — she didn’t have to buy into the company to spend time with family, but why not take advantage of a good business move at the same time? Jill sneers, “You really know about taking advantage, don’t you?” Mamie warns her not to go down that road. They argue about who stood beside John when he was building his business empire. Mamie thinks John and Billy would want them to have peace. She asks Victoria what she thinks. Victoria feels that, technically, Mamie is part of the Winters family and it’s Chancellor-Winters. Jill snaps that Victoria has no skin in this game, “And I have a lifetime.” Mamie wonders if she wants to spend the time, they have left bickering. Her feelings aren’t the only ones that count. When she was here months ago, she could see the kids needed an elder to help them build their family legacy. She told herself, “Do what John would do.” Jill fumes, “This isn’t about John, this isn’t about me.” She implores Mamie to tell the truth about why she took over Victor’s investment. “You went to him, that means you are playing an angle, that means you have a goal in mind!” Jill wants to get down to brass tacks, “How much is it going to take to buy you out?!”

Mamie tells Jill her stake is not for sale and there’s no number she’d accept. She wants to further support Devon and Lily’s efforts, “And if that includes you, so be it.” Jill gawps, “Includes me?! I’m the Chancellor in Chancellor-Winters!” Mamie wants to stop talking business and proposes a toast to family, friend, and togetherness. She tells Jill she’s welcome to stay but must stop going on about her intentions. Lily asks her to please stay. Jill chuckles, “None of you see what’s really going on here, do you?” She decides to stay because she has a strong feeling they’ve only heard part of the story. Mamie shakes her head in exasperation.

At Society, Jack tells Diane he’s arranged a special pre-celebration dinner for them. They sit and Diane toasts to their love and to their family. She asks Jack if he thinks Kyle will stand up with him tomorrow as his best man — he didn’t show up last time. Jack thinks things were more complicated for him then. He wonders if Diane is pushing for him to reinstate Kyle at Jabot and tells her that if he ousts Billy to do so, it would be mending one relationship by destroying another.

Diane insists she’s not asking Jack to choose between his son and his brother. Jack says Billy is a part of the family legacy as well and it would be a mistake to cut him loose. Diane argues, “Billy has done some questionable things in the past behind your back.” Jack defends Billy. Diane knows he’s loyal to his brother, but how strong is his loyalty to Jack? Jack reminds her he chose not to cross the line. If he cuts Billy loose right now there are serious ramifications from the outside world. It appears the C-suite is unstable. This has been good for them as brothers and for Billy and his stability, “When he feels isolated and abandoned he goes to some pretty dark places.” Diane snarks, “Is he really that fragile?” Jack says no, but he doesn’t want him believing he’s lost faith in him. Diane counters, “What about your faith in your son? You know how much your approval means to Kyle.” Jack says Jabot has already been through a lot. Jabot has had too many captains. Jill’s name comes up and they muse about her issues with Mamie. Jack prays they’re able to let things go now. He circles back to their future and their love. If it’s solid, they can conquer anything, “Let’s drink to that.”

In the jazz lounge, Jill asks Devon and Lily what they make of this Mamie thing. She promises if they knew her like she does, they’d be suspicious too. Devon says they don’t really know her and he can’t understand why she’s been so secretive. Lily wants to focus on the positive. Devon says as long as they don’t have to do an IPO, it’s fine with him. Lily wants to welcome Mamie. Jill repeats that they don’t know the history, but will hold her tongue unless Mamie comes for her.

Across the room, Mamie visits with Abby, Nate and Victoria. She recaps that Nate started off in medicine like his mother and branched out, which takes a lot of grit. He’s not Neil’s son, but she sees a lot of him in Nate. Victoria says her father adored Neil, who would be very proud of Nate’s success at the company. She steps out to take a call, and Mamie questions Nate about their relationship. Abby excuses herself so they can chat. Mamie asks what happened to Elena. Nate says it didn’t work out. Mamie asks why. Nate says they weren’t growing in the same direction. Mamie asks if Victoria was the reason he and Elena parted ways.

Nate tells Mamie that’s a story for another day, “Maybe. If you listen and don’t pass judgment.” He tells her how nice it is to have her in Genoa City, “But please try your best not to pry into our personal lives.” Mamie doesn’t want to be seen as a busybody, she just wants them to be happy. Nate hasn’t been this happy in a very long time. Mamie’s thrilled. They embrace.

Near the bar, Devon tells Abby he can’t understand why Mamie had to be so secretive about everything. Abby shrugs; maybe she just wanted it to be a surprise. Devon feels she could have asked them what they think. Abby feels she’s doing that tonight in a way.

Jill approaches Mamie and tells her she has to hand it to her, “You’ve come a long way from the Abbott house.” Mamie thanks her but feels a sucker punch is coming. Jill knows she’s right and that she’s up to something, but she’s putting her reservations aside and offering her congratulations. She marvels that Mamie pulled this off without any of them seeing it coming. Mamie says she’s always been smart and capable, but she didn’t like her very much, so she didn’t see it. Jill supposes that’s true. She asks Mamie what she really wants. Mamie replies, “Never show your hand, Jill… until it’s time.”

Back at her penthouse, Lily updates Daniel on her evening. She’s curious as to what led Mamie here. He asks if she thinks Jill is right and there’s a hidden agenda. Lily doesn’t want to think that way. Daniel asks, “You don’t think there’s some kind of hostile takeover going on, do you?” He thinks it’s a simple investment opportunity. Daniel rubs Lily’s shoulders and they kiss.

In the jazz lounge, Victoria tells Nate, “That was quite the family gathering.” He thanks her for taking it in stride. She’s used to it. Nate’s worried about Mamie and Jill. Victoria’s more concerned about him, “Were you tempted by Mamie’s suggestion that you return to Chancellor-Winters?” Nate is certain he’s right where he belongs. Also, Devon and Lily wouldn’t agree to it, and if they did, it would be even more miserable than the last time. They kiss.

At the Abbott mansion, Diane thanks Jack for a wonderful evening, “It was magical.” Jack waxes on about them renewing their vows in front of family and friends, “Together we can handle anything.” He could never love anyone as much as he loves her right now. They kiss and head up the stairs.

In bed, Jack and Diane make out.

Jill arrives at the Chancellor mansion with Devon and Abby and groans, “Oh, what a night!” She asks Abby about her mother and asks her to give her her best. She tells Devon she’s relieved they’ve settled in and that the place is in such good hands. Devon tells her that means a lot. They look up at Katherine’s portrait. Jill can still hear her voice echoing in the halls. She recalls they had a lot of fights, “Including one with cake.” Devon asks what’s on her mind. Jill admits that seeing Mamie opens up a lot of old wounds. She had a lot of wonderful memories with John, but not so much Mamie. Devon understands her skepticism. She asks for his honest take. Devon says he was surprised, just like she was, and wished Mamie had said something ahead of time. He doesn’t know her very well, so maybe she gets a kick out of things like this. Jill muses, “How could there not be an ulterior motive with her.” She knows there’s a surprise behind the surprise.

In her suite, Mamie sits down laughing to herself and pours a glass of champagne. “Cheers to me and a perfect evening!” Her phone rings and she answers, “Hello? Yeah, yeah, I just got back to my suite. It went off without a hitch. They don’t have a clue, but they’re all curious as hell. Yeah, it just went perfect.” She laughs and laughs.
