General Hospital Spoilers: John Stamos Was Warned By GH Producer That If He Left, He’d “Never Work” In This Town Again

General Hospital (GH) spoilers hint that it’s been a very long time since anyone has seen or mentioned the name Blackie Parrish, a character that helped catapult actor John Stamos’s career. He played the role from 1982 to 1984 and created quite the waves in Port Charles.

The Full House icon is currently promoting his book, “If You Would Have Told Me”, a memoir where he talks about the start of his Hollywood career, including his time in daytime drama.

In the book, Stamos talks about how he landed the part of Blackie, and how he was paid $400 an episode at the time. Still, he also chats about a run-in he had with Dean Martin where the legend advised him to “get out” (of soaps) “while you can”.

This led to a lunch with Gloria Monty, GH executive producer at the time, where he told her he wanted to leave the soap and go to a sitcom. She replied saying that if “you leave”, you’ll “never work in this town again”. Well, that advice aged, well!

GH Spoilers – Other Tidbits From The Book

Stamos also shares an embarrassing moment when he met Elizabeth Taylor (ex-Helena Cassadine) when she was on the GH set, visiting friend Tony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer).

She was relaxing in a director’s chair sipping champagne when he accidentally yelled at the legend and Oscar winner, because “someone” was moving the director’s chair in the middle of a scene, and he wasn’t aware that it was “the” Elizabeth Taylor.

He also talks about how he first met actress Lori Loughlin, fellow Full Houser, and once-soap-actress, at the 1983 Daytime Emmys when she introduced the category, he was nominated in.

Lastly, he addresses whether he and Demi Moore (ex-Jackie Templeton) had a romance while they were both together on GH.
