BIG News: Tragic Details About Paula Benard

General Hospital star Maurice Benard can consider himself a very lucky man. He’s been married to his wife, Paula Benard, since 1990. And while there were some moments that could have ended up tragic between them, Paula stood by her man during all of the good days, the bad and the downright ugly. Here’s what you need to know.

General Hospital News: Tragic Details About Paula Benard

Back in 2020, both Maurice and Paula talked about their relationship in a way that they’ve never opened up about before. Maurice admitted that things were pretty tough for them behind closed doors because of his bipolar disease. At one point, Maurice even admitted that he wanted to do some serious harm to his beloved wife. Maurice admitted that after he stopped taking his meds, he heard voices in his head that told him to threaten his wife.

But Paula said despite everything she’s been through with him, she never even once thought about leaving him. She said, “It’s no different than living with anyone with any other problem… I mean, yes, it’s difficult, but you know… I don’t know. I don’t think twice about it. I just do whatever we have to do to manage it,” she continued. “When times are hard, then we dig deeper and figure out what we need to do. But to me, it’s almost a question that shouldn’t even be asked.”

Maurice asked about how she felt after he threatened to kill her, Paula said, “Well, you didn’t threaten my life. I just got super emotional… I know that something has almost in a way possessed your state of mind [in such an instance], and it’s just a matter of getting through whatever that issue is… The right medication takes those terrible thoughts out of your head.”

General Hospital News: Maurice And Paula Are Still In Love

Thankfully, Maurice and Paula are in a much better place today. Maurice makes it clear that he couldn’t have done everything in his life without Paula by his side. He wrote on Instagram, “What can I say that I haven’t said 1000 times over. sometimes you meet someone and you have no idea that this person is going to save your life many times over. Who is going to build a life that you could never have dreamed of.  Through the highs and lows through the peaks and valleys, what I have learned is, we will always have each other!!!”
