EJ’s New Job Is About to Make Gabi’s Situation Even Worse, While Wendy Vows to Make Her Pay
Tuesday, November 7, 2023: Today on Days of Our Lives, Paulina makes EJ an offer, Wendy wants justice, Gabi appeals to Rafe, and Melinda has regrets.
Pacing at the DiMera mansion, EJ yells at someone on the phone to have Wei Shin call him back immediately. Nicole rips the phone from him, wanting to consummate their union. EJ wants that too, but he’s furious over what Stefan and Gabi did. Nicole promises they’ll take back everything those two stole from him… tomorrow. Tonight is their wedding night, and she’s pretty sure she can take his mind off business for a while.
As Tripp covers a body on the gurney at the hospital, a teary Wendy seethes. “You heard what Li said right before he died, right?” Tripp confirms. “He said Gabi did this,” Wendy continues. “She murdered my brother.” Now, she’s going to make Gabi pay for what she did to him. As Tripp tries to talk her down, Wendy realizes she has to call her father. How is she going to tell him that his son is dead? She knows he will want retribution. Tripp promises her the cops will do their job and get justice for Li.

At the apartment, Stefan adamantly tells Harris that Gabi didn’t kill Li. Holding handcuffs, Harris retorts that she was found holding the murder weapon, and Li identified her as his attacker. That’s probable cause. After Harris cuffs Gabi and bags the knife, Gabi begs Stefan not to let them lock her up again. Stefan promises not to let anything bad happen to her. They kiss before Harris leads Gabi out. Stefan repeats everything’s going to be fine, but his expression conveys doubt.
At the mansion, Nicole’s foot massage from EJ leads to kissing. As they make their way to the staircase, someone pounds on the door. EJ opens it to Paulina, who offers him the deputy mayor position. EJ passes. He’s focusing on taking back DiMera. Paulina invokes their family-like relationship due to Johnny and Chanel reuniting. Family takes care of each other, she says. He needs a job, and she needs him to work for her. That’s a win-win for the Price-DiMera family. Besides, his corporate experience is exactly what she needs in her administration. All they have to do is put their heads together and make it happen.
As Jada tells Rafe about Li at the station, Harris leads Gabi in. Alone in the interrogation room, Rafe asks Gabi, off the record, what the hell did she do?! Gabi passionately insists to her brother she is innocent. She swears on her daughter’s life. After she recounts finding Li already stabbed, Rafe says he believes her. She further tells him she’s being framed. Rafe asks why Li texted her in the first place. Gabi reluctantly tells her exasperated brother about using Rolf to blackmail Li for his DiMera shares.

A stunned Melinda gets an alert about Li in the Square. She sees Tripp and Wendy and offers her sincere condolences. Wendy spits that Melinda is just another of the vipers in this town who wanted to take him down. “Well, he’s down for good. Happy now?” Reeling, Melinda insists she truly liked Li and would never wish this on him. She regrets putting her professional goals over exploring something real with him. Tripp gets a call letting him know the cops are done at the apartment. Wendy scowls at Melinda as they leave.
In the interrogation room, Gabi defends her blackmail plan to Rafe. They bicker until Gabi shouts that she needs him on her side. Crying, she says she can’t go back to prison after what happened last time. She begs him to help her. Rafe promises it’ll be okay. He muses that Li being angry over Gabi’s blackmail is motive for setting her up. “For his murder?” Gabi deadpans. Rafe points out Li’s obsession with her made him do crazy things. She took everything from him except the ability to exact revenge. Gabi doesn’t think a jury will buy that. Rafe will do his best to prove it.
Alone on the sofa at home, Nicole thanks Susan over the phone for the lovely fruit basket. She agrees to call her Mama Banks and relays that EJ got a new job tonight. She thinks he’ll make all of them really proud.

At the station, Rafe tells Jada and Harris he believes in Gabi’s innocence. He hopes someone else’s prints will be found on the knife. In the interrogation room, Stefan tells Gabi he’s confident the investigation will clear her. He takes her hand, repeating he won’t let anything bad happen to her. She just wishes she knew who tried to make it look like she killed Li.
Outside the apartment door, Tripp tells Wendy they can get a room at the Salem Inn, but Wendy needs to see it. She tears down the crime scene tape and heads inside. With tears streaming down her face, she kneels to the floor where Li’s body was found. Tripp holds her.

In the Square, Melinda looks at Li’s photo on her phone. She says she really did like him, and she’ll miss him. Paulina returns, gloating over having just hired a new D.A. Meanwhile, EJ waltzes into the interrogation room to smugly tell Stefan and Gabi he’s the new district attorney. He’s greatly looking forward to making Gabriella his first conviction.
