When Anna Cardwell was a teenager, she gave birth to Kaitlyn. As Mama June just revealed on a TikTok, Anna could not determine the father. Then, she alleged that she helped Anna raise the now-eleven-year-old, which is still up for debate. As time went on, Anna ended up meeting and marrying Michael Cardwell and they had a daughter, Kylee. Unfortunately, that marriage took a turn and the two divorced. Anna ended up with Eldridge Toney in 2017 and they tied the knot in early 2023 right after her diagnosis. Sadly, they never had any children together though that was her dream.

With Anna gone, she leaves behind two girls, one with a known father and one without. Therefore, Kylee will be in the custody of Michael and Kaitlyn is now with Mama June and Justin Stroud. Fans have been immensely concerned about the girls being split up especially after Justin hinted they would be moving. Now, according to The Sun, Anna’s ex-husband, Michael Cardwell is taking legal action against Mama June. Per court docs, he stated that, regarding his former stepdaughter, Kaitlyn, he has “fully and completely undertaken a permanent, unequivocal, committed, and responsible parental role.”

More so, Michael added that he “engaged in consistent caretaking of the child and established a bonded and dependent relationship with the child.” Though he and Anna Cardwell had parted in 2017, he noted that he had visitation with Kylee. Additionally, Michael made time for Kaitlyn, as well. So, he was always a constant presence in her life despite not being her biological father. Michael’s final jab was at Anna and June’s relationship. He added June did not raise Anna as her grandmother had custody from eight until seventeen.

Michael Cardwell continued on to state that he pays for Kaitlyn’s education and Mama June has been essentially in and out of the young girl’s life. As for Michael, he has been stable and consistent therefore Kaitlyn should reside with him. The documents were served just yesterday, Sunday, December 17th which could be why she has been extra rude to fans. The bottom line could come down to what Anna Cardwell wanted and if she had it in a will. Yet, a court may say that keeping the sisters together during this time is of utmost importance.
