A Horrified Hope Warns Deacon He’s Risking Everything — and Li Rages at Luna
At Deacon’s place, Hope reels, “No! What are you saying? You and Sheila?! No.” She grabs her purse to go. Deacons stops her, “I know it’s a lot.” Hope gawps and tells him there’s not possible way he could be in love with that monster. Hope sobs that it doesn’t make sense. “After everything that you fought so hard for, how could you allow yourself to be involved with THAT?!” Hope angrily stabs her finger in Sheila’s direction.
At Forrester, Finn disconnects from a work phone call and flashes to Deacon and Sheila saying they’re in love. RJ comes in and asks if Finn’s looking for his dad. Finn says he had to talk to Hope about something. RJ asks if he’s been talking to Steffy. Finn speaks to her and the kids every night; he’s trying to convince her to come home. RJ asks if there’s anything new with Sheila. Finn looks uncomfortable. RJ asks, “Have you seen Sheila?” Finn says she’s still in L.A. RJ tells him he’s the only thing keeping her here. Finn rants that he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with her. His only focus is to bring his wife and kids home. Sheila will not be a part of their lives.
In the design office, Li fumes, “Luna! What are you doing here?!” Luna says, “It’s good to see you too, Aunt Li.” Li snaps, “I asked you a question.” Luna admits she’s been working there for a while now. Li angrily remarks that she didn’t even know she was in L.A. let alone working at Forrester Creations. “Where my son’s wife and family work. Answer me! Why are you here?!” she demands.
Luna tells her aunt that she needed a job and always wanted to work in fashion. She thought it might be a good fit for her. Li sneers, “Really? A good fit?! She asks, “Does your mother know about this?” Luna says her mother didn’t know she interviewed. Li finds that too coincidental, “You and your mother must have known that Finn married Steffy Forrester.” Luna insists, “No, it’s not like that.” Li warns Luna, “You listen to me. I don’t know what it is that you want, but you’re not going to get it here. You are not welcome at Forrester Creations.”
At Deacon’s place, Sheila begins, “Hope…” Hope puts up her hand, “No! I do not want to hear anything that comes out of your mouth!” She cries, “Dad. The truth, please.” Hope whispers, “This is another set up, right? You’re just trying to get her back in jail where she belongs.” Deacon replies, “No.” Hope grimaces and sobs, “No? No? It’s Sheila. That can’t be.” Deacon is sorry, but it’s true — they’re in love.
Deacon insists that Sheila’s not the same woman she was before, “She’s changed.” Hope doesn’t know what she’s done to him, but he can’t be with her — she’s dangerous. Deacon protests that she’s not anymore, “People can change. Look at me.” Hope cries, “You put in the hard work, Dad.” He will not convince her that Sheila has done that. Deacon argues the point and relays that he told Finn the same thing. Hope realizes Finn knows about this and that’s why he came to see her at Forrester and asked her to come down there. Sheila tells Hope that just like her dad is hoping she can find a way to be happy for them, she’s hoping that too. Hope glowers.
At Forrester, RJ knows how much Finn loves his sister. Finn vows he’ll never stop fighting for his family. RJ is rooting for him. Finn tells him it means a lot. He asks, “How are you? What’s going on with you?” He wonders if there’s someone special in his life. RJ says there is someone new, who is always keeping him guessing.
In the design office, Luna assures Li she hasn’t told anyone that she’s related to her or Finn. “I don’t understand why you’re being so hard on me.” Li fumes, “You know the history in our family. Your mother has always been a disgrace. I tried to help her out by getting her a job in the gift shop in the hospital and what does she do? Has an affair with one of the doctors. One of my colleagues. Ruined his reputation and almost brought me down too.” She’s a disgrace to the entire family and now Luna shows up here at Finn’s in-laws’ place of business? “No Ma’am. I will not allow it. You can go anywhere and do whatever you wish, but not here. Not at Forrester Creations.”
Luna pleads with her aunt; it’s been like a dream working there. She’s even been working with Eric Forrester himself, “I’ve also been working closely with RJ Forrester, Brooke and Ridge’s son.” Li knows who he is. Luna explains that RJ has been helping Eric design his line and she’d been following him online. Li levels, “You’ve been following RJ? Or you mean stalking the poor boy?” Luna says it’s not like that. Li tells her to stay away from him. “That’s Steffy’s brother. I can’t believe you. You’re just like your mother.” She reminds the girl there is a reason why her mother wasn’t invited to Finn’s wedding. Luna knows Li and her mother don’t get along, but insists her mom loves her and admires her. Li grits that she and Luna’s mother are two totally different people. She doesn’t want to see her or know her, “So, whatever you two are planning…” Luna pleads for her Aunt Li to let her stay, “This is my dream. Please don’t take it away from me.” Li informs her she will write a letter of resignation and will be gone by the end of the day. “Your time here at Forrester Creations is over. Do you hear me, young lady? Over!”
At Deacon’s, Hope asks her dad to stop and think about all of the terrible things that Sheila has done to their family — she terrorized her mom for years. “She’s not capable. She cannot change.” Deacon argues that he doesn’t believe anyone is beyond redemption, “Do you know ho many people wrote me off?” Hope growls that it’s not a fair comparison, “You are not a monster!” Deacon insists Sheila’s not either. “She is not the same person. I swore that to Finn and I’m swearing it to you too.” She will never hurt anyone else. Sheila pipes up that she’s grown and has found someone who accepts her for who she is. Deacon asks Hope to trust him and believe in him here, “Trust that I’m making the right decision.” Sheila says she wants to live a decent life and is ready for peace. She hopes to be a part of Finn’s world and her world too.
Hope tells Deacon to look at her, “What do you see?” Deacon sees his amazing daughter. When Hope looks at him, she sees a man who has made mistakes, who wasn’t there for her growing up, who she missed more than anything. She didn’t understand why he was gone, but she sees a man who came out the other side of that, faced his demons, who now has a business, friends who respect him, and a daughter and grandchildren who love him. “I see a man who has become a father in every sense of the word. Are you really willing to throw that away for her? Because that is what you are risking.” Deacon tells Hope he loves her and can’t even think about losing her. He gets that this is upsetting and doesn’t make sense, but sometimes love doesn’t make sense, “I love Sheila.”
Later, Deacon pours a drink and tells Sheila, “That did not go the way that I wanted.” Sheila is encouraged that she stayed and listened to them instead of immediately walking out. She loves Deacon. Sheila is convinced that their kids are going to accept this and it will bring them all closer together like one big happy family.
Hope storms into the cliff house saying, “I can’t believe it. I cannot believe it!” Finn guesses she saw her dad and she knows. Hope doesn’t think she would have believed it if she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes. “Your mom and my dad… in love.”
RJ joins Luna in the design office, where she’s packing up her things. She tells him that it’s been really great getting to know him. He asks her what’s wrong and then notices her letter of resignation. After reading it, Luna tells him she can’t stay there. “I have to go, and I can’t tell you why.” RJ won’t let her go, but she says it’s a family matter she can’t get into, and she has no choice. She lets him know she’s loved every minute with there with him. “Goodbye RJ.” RJ tells her to wait and then kisses her. RJ pulls back and whispers, “I’m not letting you go anywhere.”
