It’s been months since we reported the full list of nominees for the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards but now that the WGA Strike is over and the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and CBS announced that the ceremony will take place on Friday, December 15, the celebrations are moving ahead. A group of women recently got together to commemorate their nominations and one in particular received a very special offer from the others…
Melissa Claire Egan, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role as Chelsea, attended a luncheon hosted by last year’s winner The Young and the Restless’ Mishael Morgan (Amanda) on Sunday, December 3, along with castmates Sharon Case (Sharon) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), plus The Bold and the Beautiful’s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy) and General Hospital’s Finola Hughes (Anna).
“To be nominated alongside this incredibly talented group of women is a true honor!” Egan cheered. “Thank you to last year’s winner, the fabulous Mishael Morgan for hosting an epic Lead Actress Nominee Luncheon today.”
Now, here’s where things took a reassuring turn… We know there can only be one winner but in case she isn’t awarded the golden statuette, her peers made sure they would have her back, as Egan revealed, “It’s so nice that they all offered to give me their Emmy if they win!”
However, one actress jumped into the comments to clarify her stance… “I did not offer,” Stafford stated, to which Egan replied, “I forged your signature on a contract while you were in the bathroom.”
The ladies’ daytime peers and fans got a kick out of the whole fun exchange and a past winner in the category, Young & Restless’ Eileen Davidson (Ashley), sent her congrats to “all you fabulous women!”
