Young & Restless Twist: It’s Not Summer *or* Nick Who’ll Break up Sharon and Chance but [Spoiler]

The writing is on the wall for Sharon and Chance’s relationship, but it may not end for the reasons fans’ think as an unforeseen complication is about to enter the conversation — and she’ll come in like a wrecking ball!

Sharon and Chance became close and developed an attraction in the year following the unexpected death of her husband, and his partner, Rey Rosales. Chance provided comforting words to the blonde after she lost her love even as he struggled with the tragedy himself. But it was after another loss that their friendship turned eventually to flirtation.

When Chance’s marriage to Abby ended after she cheated on him with Dom’s biological dad, Devon, the brooding cop began spending a lot of time getting coffee at Crimson Lights and chatting with the owner/resident therapist, Sharon. “Shance” soon began making plans to have dinner together, ostensibly so they wouldn’t have to eat alone, and it all took off from there.

Of course, the burgeoning relationship was back-burnered briefly when Sharon was terrorized by Cameron Kirsten, but after she offed the obsessive stalker, it was all systems go. And “go” they did, right into the backroom of the coffee house to get it on.

In the meantime, another marriage ended. That of Kyle and Summer, who betrayed her husband by keeping quiet about her mom being alive when his mother was behind bars and charged with her murder. Despite the legal complications of doing so, Chance was able to become a friend when Summer desperately needed one. When she and Kyle finally decided to file for divorce, she began looking at her supportive pal in a new light — specifically, a romantic one.

Summer told Daniel she had no desire to come between an established couple, but she sure wished that Chance was available. Summer’s not made any overt moves to lure Chance away, but it’s obvious to anyone paying attention — including Sharon — that Summer is besotted with the new Chief of Police.

On the other side of the coin, we have previews hinting that Sharon’s ex Nick will split up with Sally, but he’s not likely to be looking to immediately reunite with his former wife even though they’re working together.

So, if Summer is treading cautiously and Nick is still tied into the Sally drama, who could we be referring to as the person who will split up Sharon and Chance?

Typically, it would have been Phyllis interfering. We can totally see her doing whatever is necessary to make sure Summer gets what she wants, especially while trying to get back in her good graces. Not to mention, this situation involves her longtime rival, Sharon. Yep, normally, this would have Red’s fingerprints all over it, but at the present time, she’s trying to be on her best behavior as promised.

No, the person we have a hunch is going to come in like a wrecking ball is none other than — another meddling mom.

We recently learned that Tricia Cast is headed back to Young & Restless as Nina Webster, thanks to an adorbs social media post from her pal Lauralee Bell (Christine), and we think there’s more than one reason she’s returning to Genoa City.

While she may get involved in the love triangle that’s almost certain to re-emerge involving Phyllis, Danny, and Cricket, something tells us she won’t be shy about expressing her opinion on her son’s love life as well. In fact, the last time we saw her, she put Abby on blast for betraying Chance in the middle of the bicentennial gala!

Although Nina surely wants Chance to be happy with someone he adores, we’re guessing that once she gets the lay of the land, she’ll question him moving on with Sharon and feel he’s much better suited to Summer.

Sharon is working closely with the man who some might argue is the love of her life, so Nina may be concerned about Chance getting hurt again. Nina probably wants more grandchildren too, and since Sharon is already a grandmother herself, she’s not likely to be looking to give him any children.

Yep, we’re all but certain that once Nina clocks Summer’s interest in Chance, she’ll start working on making “Chummer” happen. And with the formidable Mama Bear on her side, Summer certainly stands a better than average, er, chance!
