It’s time to shake things up.
- With the arrival of new head writers for ABC’s General Hospital, Port Charles is already going through the shift of power.
- However, fans are yet to see the long-awaited by majority downfall of Carly Corinthos.
- Evidently, Nina was not strong enough to battle against her, but there is a woman who would be powerful enough to change the game.
- Fans believe that by bringing Brenda Barrett, the writers could make the story even more exciting.
Seeing how happy the vast majority of General Hospital were upon Jason Morgan’s return, it is no doubt that people would be just as welcoming to another iconic character. Of course, that only makes the issue of inflated cast that much worse, but there are some characters the viewers would be willing to sacrifice for others to come back.
Especially if said return would help to change the pestered dynamics between Carly, Nina, Sonny, Drew and everyone around them, who have been victims to a never-ending conflict. Luckily for the writers, the viewers have just a woman in mind.
Will Brenda Barrett Be Back to General Hospital?

Not only does Brenda have a shared past with many of the characters the show is currently focusing on, but she holds enough power over Sonny to make both Carly and Nina quake in their boots. And that is exactly what people want to see after enduring their back-and-forth for so long.
While many Sonny and Brenda shippers still assume that they might end up together off camera when the time comes for Maurice Benard to retire, right now, with no news indicating that Sonny Corinthos is stepping away from his shady business, a brief Brenda appearance could make him remember the passionate past.
What’s even better is that Vanessa Marcil, who portrays the role, is already up for a comeback. As she said during one of her Instagram livestreams, as long as Maurice Benard is in the cast, she has a good reason to stop by Port Charles:
“It’ll happen eventually. <…> And the fact that Maurice is always still there, you know, makes it a no-brainer, because I couldn’t go back and work opposite a Sonny recast or some of these crazy things that happened to some characters,” she said.
Now that the fans are ready for it, as well as Marcil herself, it’s up to the writers. To keep up the momentum of the last few episodes, they will have to come up with something new to keep the drama going. Bringing Brenda back would allow the story to go in many different directions.
