Baby Ace sure is a cutie on GENERAL HOSPITAL! Of course, like most newborns on soaps, Ace’s life was full of drama even before he was born in February 2023. And for those of you curious about the kid, we’re here to fill you in! Baby Ace is being played by Jay and Joey Clay, and if you think he looks a bit big for a newborn, you’re not wrong, but that’s due to new casting rules set up by the soap. This is the Clay Twins’ first big role on TV, but we’d be surprised if this wasn’t the start of a big new career for them!

Baby Ace is the result of Esme Prince having an affair with Nikolas Cassadine. She had been dating his son, Spencer Cassadine, and he was married to Ava Jerome. But as part of her plot to split up Nik and Ava, she seduced the guy and destroyed his marriage. After a fight with Ava sent Esme falling over the parapet at Wyndemere, they assumed she’d died but she showed up months later to reveal to Nikolas she was pregnant with his child!

Nikolas panicked and locked Esme away in a tower at Wyndemere to keep her hidden until she gave birth and he could take the baby and get rid of her. Elizabeth Webber found herself wrapped up in Nik’s scheme and attempted to keep Esme and her child healthy. Attempting to escape again, Esme leaped from the parapet and resurfaced on The Haunted Star suffering from hypothermia… and amnesia! She was sent to Spring Ridge where her parents, Ryan Chamberlin and Heather Webber, broke her out. Horrified to find she was the daughter of serial killers, Esme tried to run away from them and went into labor.

As the police took Heather into custody and Mac Scorpio shot Ryan dead, Laura and Kevin Collins helped Esme deliver her baby at Wyndemere. She was then brought to the hospital where she decided to name the baby Ace, which was actually the name she selected before she’d lost her memory. Spencer had previously decided to sue for custody of his baby brother because he didn’t want either Nikolas or Esme raising him. But with Nikolas missing and Esme a little nicer since suffering amnesia, the situation changed.

Baby Ace spent a little time in Spring Ridge with his mom, then when the charges against Esme were dropped (all the better to refile them again when she didn’t have amnesia as a get-out-of-jail-free card!), joined her in moving into Laura Collins‘ apartment where they were also joined by Spencer, who wanted to keep an eye on Esme. She very nearly ran away with Ace, but was convinced to stick around and prove that she’d changed by Cameron Webber.
