Shawn Stuns Belle When She Comes Looking to Repair Their Marriage — Plus, Justin Questions Alex’s Intentions

As Alex looks at an article about him being Victor’s son, Justin comes to the door. Alex asks what he’s doing there. “Can’t a father stop by to see his son?” Justin responds. Sitting with beers, Justin says nothing will change the fact that Alex is his son. Alex feels the same way. He’s sorry he initially didn’t react well, but he loves him very much. He’s grateful for him and for his brothers. Justin is happy to hear it, but wonders, after taking over as CEO, will Alex stake his claim to the family home next?

Konstantin visits Maggie at the mansion. After introducing himself as Victor’s lifelong friend, he offers his condolences. He also gives her a photo album that belonged to his parents. His and Victor’s families were very close. She’s delighted to find a photo of a young Victor. The album is hers to keep, he says. He hopes it brings her comfort.

Chloe comes to see Brady at John and Marlena’s place to say goodbye. She needs to hit the reset button and spend time with Parker. Brady understands, considering how nice it is to have Tate there. However, he’s stunned to learn Philip is moving to New York as well. She clarifies they aren’t a couple, but she isn’t ruling it out. She knows it sounds crazy after what he put them through, but she hopes Brady trusts to her make the right choices. All Brady has ever wanted is for her to be happy. Besides, he knows you never get over your first love. Just like Brady will never get over her.

At the Pub, Belle tries to process the fact that Philip and Chloe are leaving together. Philip says she and Shawn can visit whenever they want. She tells him Shawn cheated on her, so her marriage may be over. She muses that she deserves it because she cheated on Shawn with EJ. Hell, she cheated on him with Philip. He urges her not to give up on her marriage and to go talk to Shawn.

At the station, Shawn thanks someone on the phone for making arrangements on short notice. He needs to get his life back on track. He hangs up when Talia enters. She thought they should talk since Belle knows about their one-night stand. She hates that she’s responsible for breaking up his marriage. Shawn says his marriage was on shaky ground before they slept together, so if this is the end, it falls directly on him.

At his place, Alex assures Justin he offered Maggie a position to stay on at Titan. “How gracious of you,” Justin deadpans. Alex thinks it was more gracious than when she fired him. But it wasn’t payback. He’s Victor’s heir who knows the business. He belongs at the top of the company. He knows how much Victor loved Maggie, so his job offer was sincere. As for the mansion, it was left to him and Maggie equally, so he couldn’t give her the boot even if he wanted to. But he doesn’t. Justin believes him and apologizes for being accusatory.

Alex assures his father he’s not swimming in his newfound gold coins like Scrooge McDuck. He’s just trying to come to terms with his new reality like everyone else. Justin asks him to move back. Alex will think about it. Justin is proud of how he’s handling all the money and power. He can tell he’s not letting it go to his head. Alex asks him to let him know should he start not to recognize him. Justin promises.

At John and Marlena’s, Brady apologizes to Chloe for the hell Kristen and Rachel put her through. She knows he tried his best. Obviously, that wasn’t good enough, he points out, since they’re saying goodbye again. She doesn’t regret a single moment of their time together. Through tears, she says he will always be in her heart. The same goes for Brady. He wants her to have the best life, whatever that means.

At the station, Talia tries to convince Shawn to give himself the same grace he’s giving her. He’s a great guy, but everyone knows that except for him. She takes his hands as Belle enters. Talia leaves as Belle tells Shawn she’d like to try and forgive him so they can save their marriage.

After Maggie delights over more photos of young Victor, Konstantin tells her Victor gave him the money for his first restaurant and refused repayment. He asks for a motel recommendation since he’ll be staying for a while. Maggie won’t hear of it. He’s made her feel closer to Victor than she has since she lost him. So, he’s staying there.

Marlena comes to her living room, where Brady wistfully gazes at a photo of Chloe. As he tells her about Chloe’s plans, he gets a message from the office. “What?!” he exclaims upon looking at his phone.

At the Pub with Kate, Philip defends his decision to go to New York with Chloe. She worries because she’s his mother and loves him more than anything. Philip knows and loves her more than she realizes. They embrace as Chloe enters. Kate tells Chloe to be careful with her son’s heart and leaves them. Alone, they agree they’re going with no expectations or promises, but a whole lot of hope.

At the station, Shawn is happy to hear Belle wants to forgive him and to work on their marriage. But he won’t be there to do that. He’s going to an outpatient rehab center near where Bo is being treated. Belle offers to put in a leave of absence to go with him, but Shawn needs to do this without her. He needs to work on his problems if they stand a chance at rebuilding their marriage. Belle doesn’t like it, but she gets it. She asks if he’ll come to her once he heals. He wants that more than anything. They tearfully embrace.

Brady comes to Alex’s place to chastise him for having to hear he quit from HR – and about Victor’s will from Bonnie. Alex apologizes, but he’ll make it up to him. Starting with offering Basic Black a better deal than they ever had with DiMera. And then Brady will be part of the empire. “Victor’s son and Victor’s grandson back together again.” Mulling it over, Brady gravely says, “First, you stab me in the back, and now you want to own me. You really are Victor’s son, aren’t you?”

As Konstantin looks around the living room alone, Justin comes home. Maggie joins them and introduces the men. Justin warily eyes Konstantin upon hearing he’ll be staying with them.
