Nailed It: General Hospital’s Rena Sofer Previews Her Rockin’ Return as Lois

This past year has been filled with surprises over at General Hospital. Some have been good, others have been downright heartbreaking. But it’s probably safe to say that Rena Sofer’s return to the ABC soap as Lois Cerullo was one that completely blindsided us — in the best way possible, of course!

But ever since Eddie Maine’s taken over Ned’s life (and his addled mind), we guess it was inevitable that his ex wife and manager showed up as well — especially after he went for a little walk down Memory Lane! And now, finally, we’re almost to her big return, 26 years later almost to the day since Sofer last stepped into Lois’ Bensonhurst shoes!

In fact, we’re so close, the Monday, October 9 episode ended with a little look at some very unique nails as you-know-who read up on BLQ’s firing from Deception!

We can’t tell who might be more excited — Sofer or the General Hospital fans — as Lois’ original portrayer took to Instagram to give a little… nail biting preview of her big return. (Yeah, we’re really leaning into the nail thing here — but then, so is Sofer and the show!)

“Tomorrow is the day,” the actress exclaimed in a post with a couple of photos taken by hubby Sandford Bookstaver. “Please watch General Hospital for the return of Lois and get ready for some amazing nail art by @polishedbyamber.”

“Screaming,” fan Jolene Mendez answered in the comments. “The nails. I forgot about the epic nails. Can’t wait!”

Though Sofer hasn’t been back to General Hospital since 1997, she hasn’t been away from daytime all that long, with a downright impressive nine-year run as The Bold and the Beautiful’s Quinn. Her 2022 departure caught fans of the CBS sudser by surprise almost as much as the news that she’d be heading back to Port Charles, but clearly she’s still got fans back at the show.

Her long term TV husband, John McCook (Eric) even popped by in the comments to cheer Sofer on. “They’re so lucky to have you,” McCook wrote. “Enjoy the ride, beautiful Rena!!”

And he wasn’t the only CBS star excited for Sofer’s return as The Young and the Restless‘ Michelle Stafford (Phyllis), who originated the role of General Hospital‘s Nina, chimed in declaring, “I’m in!!”

And so, we’re sure, is everyone else! So grab a snack, sit back and get ready for Lois’ big return — amazing nail art and all!
