Kyle and Summer Call a Truce — and Phyllis Discovers Exactly Who Tucker Is Targeting

At Jabot, Jack updates Billy that Ashley is doing OK. Billy is leery of the news that Tucker’s stopped calling her. They need to make a move ASAP. Billy asks who will be talking to Devon first, “You or me?” Billy explains that they don’t have to manipulate Devon, just remind him of who Tucker is. If he loses Devon, he loses his connection to Genoa City and will hopefully leave town for good. Jack argues that Tucker and Devon are father and son, and Devon has already lost Neil. If they’re going to battle Tucker, it’s their fight and they have no right to drag Devon into it.

Billy says Tucker is toxic and it’s only a matter of time before he screws things up with Devon as well. Jack says, “Exactly,” and question why they have to force the issue. Billy fumes that the more time he spends with them, the more pain he will cause them. Jack urges his brother to drop this and leaves for a meeting. Billy stews and paces before texting Devon to meet.

At Lily’s penthouse, she tells Devon that Victor wants out of Chancellor-Winters and he’s already sold his stake to a third party. Devon, frowning, asks, “Who is the investor?” Lily says that’s the million-dollar question.

Lily explains to Devon that Jill has no idea who the new investor might be. Why would he do this without giving them a heads up? She wants to meet with Victor and see if he’ll tell her anything. She wonders if him retaking the helm at Newman has anything to do with it. Devon gets Billy’s text and guesses he wants to meet him to discuss what Tucker is up to. Lily asks how he feels about Tucker being back. Devon shrugs that as Abby keeps reminding him, he’s probably not the victim. He thought maybe he’d want to change for once in his life; he had just started wanting to believe in him. At this point, he just wants to know the truth. Maybe the Abbotts can help him figure it out.

Diane says good morning to Phyllis at the GCAC. The redhead asks her not to start with her. Diane asks what brings her there. Phyllis reminds her they just tolerate each other; is she trying to get on her nerves? Diane’s trying to establish civility between them for Summer and Kyle’s sake. They bicker over who’s to blame for their split. Phyllis complains about Kyle jumping into bed with Audra. Diane scoffs at Phyllis being offended by casual sex. Phyllis can’t do this and says, “Enough.”

Diane asks Phyllis, “Wouldn’t you like to see our kids find their way back to each other?” Phyllis told Summer she wouldn’t get involved. Diane confides she’s worried about her son and that ridiculous affair. Phyllis warns her not to try and get her daughter to forgive Kyle. Diane feels if they can put on a united front, maybe Kyle and Summer can do the same. Phyllis tells her to give it up as Tucker appears. Diane snarks, “Of course this is who you’re meeting. You two are perfect for each other.”

In the dining room, Tucker learns Phyllis is interested in his deal. He tells her no “buts”, she has to say if he’s in or out. Phyllis needs to know the name of the company. She rolls her eyes and guesses he’s going after Jabot. He tells her, “Close. But not quite.”

Kyle’s sitting in Crimson Lights when Summer walks in. She flashes to him saying there’s no coming back from what she did and there’s no reason not to move forward with a divorce. Shaking the memory off, she approaches his table and greets him. Kyle wants to be sure she got the letter regarding Harrison’s custody agreement. She did. Kyle invites her to sit, and they agree that the boy deserves two fully invested parents. Summer asks, “Is this us calling a truce?”

Kyle teases, “Let’s not get crazy.” But he agrees he doesn’t want to fight anymore. Kyle tells Summer she’s Harrison’s mom and always will be. Summer is relieved they’ve moved past the anger. She’s not sure how they got here, but she’s glad they did.

Summer asks Kyle how he’s doing with the changes at Newman. Kyle thinks he’s safe for now. Summer guesses her grandmother wasn’t happy about him and Audra. Kyle says she forced Audra to end things with him to keep her job. Summer guesses it was all she could do not to fire her opportunistic ass. She’s glad that it’s over; no good was going to come of it, “If you don’t believe me, you can ask Noah.” She doesn’t think he ever would have gotten involved with her if not for what she did, “I am sorry.”

At Jabot, Jack flashes to warning Tucker not to come after Jabot, and Tucker suggesting that Billy’s not trustworthy. He then recalls Billy fuming at him for suspecting he’d gone over to their side. Diane comes in and tells him she had a run-in with Phyllis, who wouldn’t even be civil for Summer and Kyle’s sake. She suspects she thinks Summer is better off without Kyle because of her. Jack thinks Phyllis has a point in that they shouldn’t get involved in their breakup. “They have to do it, not us.”

At the club, Tucker considers how much to tell Phyllis and then says, “Billy Abbott.” Phyllis asks, “What about Billy Abbott?” Tucker wants access to his personal finances. Phyllis grimaces, “What ax would you have to grind…” Tucker won’t get into detail and can’t think why she’d ever be Billy’s ally. He points out she has the ability to keep her hands clean. Phyllis asks why he’s going after Billy — is it part of a bigger plan? Tucker asks her, “Don’t you want plausible deniability?” Phyllis wants to know what’s going on so she can agree to be a part of it or refuse. Tucker goes on about Phyllis desperately needing money and complains about her not being more pragmatic before announcing that he’ll find another tech genius to do it.

At Society, Devon asks Billy, “What’s going on?” Billy hates to do this, but he has to warn him, “I’m afraid your father is out of control again.” Devon asks what that means. Billy says he’s up to his old antics. Devon knows he and Ashley both have their own versions of what happened between them. They go over Ashley changing her mind about cutting ties with Jabot and starting a company with Tucker. Billy says Tucker went ballistic and scared her. There must be more at stake. He thinks the plan was to build himself a new empire and now that’s cut off, so he’ll be coming after Jabot on his own. Devon finds this extreme and questions why Billy’s sharing his thoughts with him on this.

Lily arrives outside of Victor’s office and flashes to Devon telling her that Jill had dropped the IPO because a friend invested. Lily guessed it was Victor. She walks in and Victor gets up to greet her. She sits and thanks him for working her into his schedule. Victor realizes she’s curious as to why he sold his stake in Chancellor-Winters. “I have my reasons.” It’s not because he’s lost faith in them. Lily’s confused, “Why are you backing out?” Victor tells her he stepped in to help the situation between her and Devon, but now he’s having issues at his company that he needs to rectify. Lily thanks him for the explanation and then asks, “Who is this mystery investor that’s taking your place?”

Victor isn’t at liberty to divulge that information, “The investor prefers to keep their identity secret.” Lily argues, “It’s our company.” Victor booms, “In due time.” Lily finds this nerve-wracking and worries the newcomer will destroy the progress they’ve made. Victor is sure the new investor will eventually come and introduce themselves.

At Crimson Lights, Kyle had no idea Summer felt responsible for him getting involved with Audra and assures her it had nothing to do with her. Summer isn’t her biggest fan after what she did to Noah. She thinks Kyle could use this as a wake-up call — a sign that it’s time to go back to Jabot where they both know he belongs.

At Jabot, Jack and Diane debate about getting involved in Kyle and Summer’s affairs. He’s convinced they’ll work it out without any help. Diane hopes Kyle comes to his senses and comes home, in every sense of the word. Jack hates the distance between them. Diane’s convinced he’s not thinking clearly and has to help him find his way back to himself. Jack feels she knows that they have to trust Kyle to work this out on his own. In the meantime, Jack wants to shift focus to something happier, “Having a nice, quiet meal with my beautiful wife.” Diane falls more in love with him every time she hears that word. They kiss.

At Society, Devon is sure Billy has some sort of agenda and asks him what he hopes to accomplish. Jack and Diane walk in. Jack sees Billy and Devon and complains, “Billy has gone behind my back again!”

At the club, Tucker gets up to leave the table and Phyllis asks him to sit back down. “I want half of the money right now. Now, immediately. And the other half when I get into Billy’s financials. Then I want out. The rest is on you.” Tucker tells her to meet him in his suite in half an hour and he’ll do the transfer.
