The troubles that Lucy and Deception are facing on General Hospital are no laughing matter. But the actress who has been hired to represent them in court against no less than All My Children barrister Jackson Montgomery is seriously funny.

The week of August 28, Carly Hughes debuts as Deception’s attorney, Elise. And if she looks familiar — see above – she does! — it may be because she spent several years enjoying “second breakfast” on the ABC hitcom American Housewife, she’s appeared on the reboot of Dynasty (Geneva Abbott, anyone?), and she rang in the holidays in Lifetime’s The Christmas Edition.

AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE - "Hip To Be Square" - In an effort to stay connected, Katie and Greg look into activities that they can enjoy as a couple. Meanwhile, Anna-Kat has her own hurdles to overcome when Franklin (Evan O'Toole) shines at square dancing and she fails miserably. Plus, Tripp (Peyton Meyer) struggles with the idea of Taylor going away to college on an all-new "American Housewife," FRIDAY, NOV. 29 (8:00-8:30 p.m. EST), on ABC. Those of us who remember what a scene stealer Hughes was opposite Katie Mixon and BEEF star Allie Wong on American Housewife won’t be surprised that she slays Port Charles. But at least Lynn Herring, who plays Lucy, was stunned by her new co-star’s awesomeness as she went up against the estimable Walt Willey.

“She just played everything so well and is just adorable and charming,” the daytime vet enthused to Soap Opera Digest. “I told [our casting director], ‘She’s got to come back.’”
