Just today, we’re celebrating Kristina Wagner’s 39-year anniversary as General Hospital‘s Felicia. It’s a huge accomplishment for any daytime actor, and though John J. York hasn’t been on for quite as long, he has been with the show for over three decades and Mac has become a beloved Port Charles fixture. He’s also become a beloved Felicia fixture!

But, York just announced, we’ll soon be seeing a lot less of Mac on our screens! Right now, the poor guy is still in the dark that he’s got a son in Cody. While this has been a secret for what feels like ages, we were hoping that we’d finally get to the truth this fall. Now, though, we aren’t so sure.

Mac wants to help GH

York took to Twitter/X to let us know he’ll be disappearing shortly. “Hey kiddos,” he wrote, “just want to let you know that I will be taking a brief hiatus from the show in a few weeks. I’m in the process of getting some important information. So hang tight, and I’ll be in touch.”

The fans were quick to wish him well, though, a number wondered (and worried!) about whether he was taking a break for good reasons or bad ones. Was this because of a health issue or a project he’s heading off to work on? Something else entirely?

York didn’t say how long he’d be gone or when he’d return, just that the hiatus would be “brief.” Hopefully once he gets the information he mentions, he’ll be able to fill us in on more details. For now, though, we wish him well and hope that whatever takes him away from Port Charles will allow him back sooner, rather than later!
