Sheesh. Based on the character’s reaction to his “bad” grade, it looks like he’s headed for an emotional story arc that will really challenge his portrayer, Joshua Benard, whose dad, as we all know, is Maurice Benard, aka Sonny. Reviewing his test, Adam appeared to be in pain — actual physical pain. What, exactly, is going on with the college student?

It could be anxiety, which can trigger tension headaches and migraines. Adam is certainly on edge about getting into a good medical school. And the pressure put on him by his parents can’t be helping.

The future doctor could also be suffering from bipolar disorder, symptoms of which can include the kind of fixation on an individual that we may be seeing where his feelings for Josslyn are concerned. Similar to borderline personality disorder, manic depression can leave an individual alternately in love with someone and wanting to harm them.
