‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Grief in the Wake of Austin Gatlin Holt’s Death; Who Will Mourn the Duplicitous Doctor?
‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers suggest that once the news hits about Dr. Austn Gatlin Holt‘s (Roger Howarth) death, several characters will have complicated feelings about his demise.
Austin wasn’t the most popular citizen in Port Charles. He will, however, leave a lasting impression on the people who did know him as much as he would allow.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Ava Will Feel Complicated Emotions
The person whom Austin’s death will likely affect the most is Ava Jerome (Maura West). The two of them had a highly complex bond that started when Austin helped her move Nikolas Cassadine‘s (Adam Huss) lifeless body to the stables.
He was the one she confided in about “killing” Nikolas, and she will no doubt have strong emotions that she will need to grapple with in the passing days. The two had a very short-lived romance, but fate intervened.
Of course, Ava was one of the last people to see Austin alive. She screamed at him with everything in her, and he was calm and apologetic. Will she regret having made him leave the gallery before she had the chance to forgive him?
Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) will probably experience a sense of loss, seeing as Austin helped her deliver baby Bailey Lousie. He was Maxie and her little girl’s hero, and it’s something she won’t soon forget. They shared a connection but went their separate ways.
Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) kept Austin from gaining a piece of the Quartermine pie, as she blackmailed Austin so he would not cash in.
Austin was the son of Jimmy Lee Holt (Steve Bond) and Charity Gatlin (Gloria Carlin). Jimmy Lee was also the illegitimate son of Edward Quartermaine (John Ingle) and Alan Quartermaine’s (Stuart Damon) brother. He was supposed to receive a sizeable inheritance.
Brook Lynn will likely feel guilt over severing Austin’s familial ties and not giving him a chance to be part of the Quartermaine family. She will realize that what she did cost Austin a lot.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: The Lost Quartermaine
The Quartermaines, in general, will have some response to Austin’s death. The Quartermaine’s complex family history may resurface (if the writers are smart). It may upset those family members who are torn over the loss of a possible reconciliation with a lost family member.
Dr. Liesel Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) will feel awful when she hears the news about Dr. Gatlin Holt. He was kind to her daughter, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud).
Britt had hired Austin to work at General Hospital. The two formed a close bond, and Austin even helped throw her a New Year’s birthday bash to remember.
He also contributed to helping Liesel, Brad Cooper (Parry Shen), and Maxie surprise Britt with her birthday video, and he tried to persuade her to stay in Port Charles.
Of course, there is Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), who won’t be able to benefit from having a doctor at his disposal whenever he feels like using someone for his selfish purposes.
No matter what, Austin’s death will send shockwaves throughout Port Charles. He was a trusted, respected doctor who never got close enough to anyone in town for anyone to know the real Austin.
