General Hospital Is Bringing On Blaze’s Mother — With a *Very* Familiar Face

Blaze and Kristina toast GH

Get ready, because General Hospital just hired a much-loved soap vet, and we can’t wait to see how her character shakes things up in Port Charles. With that in mind, let us set the stage:

You’re Kristina Corinthos. You’re part of a tight-knit family that includes your “coffee importer” dad, a mom who’s been known to run folks down while drinking (accident!) and two half sisters… one of whom you’re currently carrying a child for. Plus, after years of sitting mostly on the sidelines, you have an awesome girlfriend who accepts you — and your occasionally questionable life choices — wholly.

In other words, everything’s coming up roses.

But things could get a bit trickier when girlfriend Blaze’s mom shows up… especially as she’s going to be played by Eva LaRue, as reported by TVLine. Why do we say that could mean trouble? Well, let’s face it: Nobody hires a powerhouse like LaRue to play a wallflower.

For those who are unfamiliar, the actress is best known for playing Dr. Maria Santos on the late, iconic soap All My Children. She would later go on to become a leading lady on primetime’s CSI: Miami. In 2019, LaRue returned to daytime to play Celeste on The Young and the Restless. Sadly, a potential pairing between her character and Jack Abbott — played by her former All My Children co-star Peter Bergman — was dropped as quickly as it arose.

Although we’ve yet to hear Blaze talk in depth about her family, we know that she’s living in the closet at least in part out of fear regarding how they’ll react to her being gay. So the arrival of LaRue’s Natalia Rogers-Ramirez during the episode airing on February 26 could prove quite the turning point for Blaze and Kristina.

No word on how long LaRue will remain on the canvas, especially given the backstage tumult which has led to the ouster of former headwriters Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor, with Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahey stepping into their shoes. Although Natalia is being introduced in late February, word has it that material written by the new scribes won’t be seen on the air until sometime in mid-March.
