Peter Porte and His Dog Drop Thirst Traps for a Very Important Reason
Days of Our Lives’ Peter Porte (Dimitri) is stepping up to help raise money and awareness for a very good cause — and he’s giving up his bed for one night while doing so. The actor posted a couple of photos to alert fans and to give them the opportunity to lend a supporting hand as well to Covenant House of California as they work with others to stop LGBTQ youth homelessness.
“Here’s a thirsty pic of me, here’s a thirsty pic of Butters,” Porte shared, along with separate photos of his Salem character and his handsome pup.
However, the third shot highlighted “a frustrating statistic,” as the actor went on to explain that “28% of LGBTQ youth reported experiencing homelessness or housing instability at some point in their lives.” As a result, he’s partnering with Covenant House to raise money and is giving up his bed “for a night in solidarity” to ensure that youth facing homelessness can have a safe place to sleep at Covenant House.
Closing out his message, Porte expressed, “If you are able to donate, it would mean the world to me.”
On his official Sleep Out page, where fans can lend their support, Porte detailed how “My Sleep Out helps youth facing homelessness find safe shelter and loving care at Covenant House California.” The care they receive includes education, job training, medical care, mental health, substance use counseling, legal aid and everything they require to build and maintain independent, sustainable futures. “By supporting my Sleep Out,” he stated, “you are supporting the dreams of young people overcoming homelessness.”
We commend the actor for being a role model for others to help fight the battle against one of the world’s most heartbreaking issues.
