Days of Our Lives 2023 Year In Review: From Bo’s Nap and Nicole’s Karmic Baby Woes to the Kiriakis Shock(s) We Never Expected

It’s been one heck of a year on Days of Our Lives, but then, that’s pretty much just life in Salem. The show got creative with things we never expected, from a heavenly detour that still has us scratching our heads to familiar faces popping up in entirely new roles. Well, new roles for them!

Days of Our Lives Spoilers December 25 – 29

We got Bo and Hope’s big return that quickly pivoted into their big exit — but at least it gave us a villain finally worthy of the Phoenix himself in Megan! We said farewell to Victor in a series of beautifully nostalgic episodes and even if his funeral may not have been the grand affair we would have wished, we still had to wipe away more than a few tears. But maybe the best thing to come out of it? Xander isn’t just the cousin no one wants, he’s actually Victor’s secret son! Now if only someone would tell him that…

Then there are all the do-overs. Blake Berris made his big return not as Nick (well, we did get that up in Heaven — or wherever that afterlife was), but as both Stephanie and Jada’s ex, Everett! Or Bobby. We’re still figuring that one out. Jen Lilley brought Theresa back to town, then, out of nowhere, was replaced by Emily O’Brien — just as Gwen left town for a few months! And poor Nicole got to relive her baby swapping days — but from the other side!

Throw in a murder mystery (at least, we think Li’s murder is still a mystery), some tainted biscuits (please let this be the last time we ever write that) and a youth serum that may or may not have been literal and if there’s one thing we’re certain about, it’s that 2023 was never dull in Salem!
