Darin Brooks Ponders a Young & Restless Reunion for Wyatt and Sally: ‘Hello, I’m Here to Mess Things Up!’

When Darin Brooks confirmed his exit from Bold & Beautiful last week — read his goodbye message here — we were bummed… and then, weirdly, excited. Because if, after 10 eventful years, Wyatt Spencer is no longer tied to Los Angeles, he could pay a visit to Genoa City, perhaps to reconsider the end of his relationship with Sally Spectra.

“You never know who could show up on the doorstep,” Brooks told Soaps.com in an interview conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike. “‘Hello… I’m here to mess things up!’ I love Courtney [Hope]. And Sally was one of the big loves of Wyatt’s life.

“Things went a little wonky when Flo entered the picture,” he added, “and what we saw was… well, it felt a little forced, like a way to get Sally off the canvas so that Courtney could go over to Young & Restless and Wyatt could be moved into this new relationship.”

“Wonky” might be putting it mildly, considering that once Wyatt’s old flame hit the canvas, Sally went so far as to fake a terminal illness and kidnap her rival in hopes of getting knocked up by the Spencer heir. Before that, though, Wyatt and Sally were fire. And if lightning could strike twice, Brooks would be, essentially, electrified.

“I love working with Courtney, because she’s the kind of actress that you can ad-lib with and play. It makes it so much fun, and viewers feel that vibe,” he said. “It was the same way with Kim Matula (ex-Hope). It keeps things fresh.”
