After Melinda Tries to Blackmail Her, Sloan Prepares to Tell Eric the Truth While Xander Reels Over a ‘Really’ Pregnant Sarah

Melinda urgently comes to Sloan’s apartment, panicking over Paulina being named Abe’s successor. It’s bad news for her, considering how hard she went after Paulina and Chanel. She plans to fend her off by prosecuting Li for the attempted murder of Stefan and needs Sloan to be Li’s attorney to feed her useful information. Sloan points out that’s a felony. Melinda has no choice. She’ll be out on the street without a big, headline-making win. When Sloan refuses, Melinda threatens to tell Eric that he’s the father of Nicole’s baby. Sloan still refuses, confident Eric won’t leave her because she’s pregnant too. Melinda scoffs. Is she really willing to risk finding out? Sloan will tell Eric the minute he gets back, and then Melinda won’t have a hold over her.

A pensively sad Nicole averts her eyes from EJ.

At the DiMera mansion, EJ tells Nicole that Victor is dead. Nicole can’t believe it’s hitting her so hard. EJ points out she was married to him. There must have been some good memories from that time. Nicole corrects him. EJ wonders if Victor and Stefano have met up in the great beyond. “Who needs a devil when you can torment each other for the rest of eternity?” Despite how awfully Victor treated her, she’ll miss him and can’t think of Salem without him.

When she assumes EJ doesn’t want to hear her go on about her ex-husband, EJ says he’d listen to her go on about anything. He suggests they get married — now. They should live every day as if it were their last. He’ll have the DiMera jet take them to Italy to elope. Sydney can be a flower girl, and Nicole can rub Sami’s nose in it. Nicole pulls him into a kiss, telling him to call the damn plane.

When EJ discovers Dimitri has the plane in Iceland, he heads off to get the forms at City Hall. Alone, Nicole recalls Victor pushing her out a window. “At least this time around, it’s gotta be better than that,” she says.

Eric (temporarily played by Jason Gerhardt) finds a brooding Shawn drinking at Small Bar. When Eric tries to reassure him he’s not responsible for Victor’s death, Shawn lashes out.

Outside the Pub at night, Brady makes an emphatic point to Chloe. Standing next to him, Belle side-eyes her brother.

Outside Brady’s Pub, Brady overhears Chloe telling Belle she has no reason not to accept Xander’s proposal. “Is he drugging you or something?” Brady exclaims. “Is that why you can’t remember how he treats women?” He’s inherently violent, he says, pointing out Xander just hit him because he kissed her. However, it did end in a hug over Victor.

After Belle leaves, Brady admits to Chloe he’s jealous, but his point stands about Xander’s violent tendencies. Also, he only proposed because he can’t have Sarah. “You say that like it’s a bad thing,” Chloe spits back. Their pasts are part of who they are, and they have a great thing going. Nothing is standing in their way. “Except me,” Brady says. It all sounds like a rationalization to him. When Brady says there’s a reason she hasn’t said yes yet, Chloe storms away.

Eric makes a forceful point to Shawn at a table in Small Bar. Shawn clutches a liquor bottle with one hand and a glass with the other.

Upon Eric calling, Belle shows up at Small Bar in time to break up a scuffle between him and Shawn. When Eric leaves, Belle tries to get through to her husband, but he wants her to leave him in peace. Belle’s place is with him. So, if he wants to drink himself into oblivion, he’s not doing it alone.

At the Kiriakis mansion, Xander reels over a “really” pregnant Sarah. She tells him how sorry she is about Victor. She knows how much he loved him. “Are you kidding me right now?!” he says, eyes bulging. How about she explain why she didn’t tell him she was going to have his baby! Sarah says it’s none of his business because the baby is Rex’s. Xander doesn’t buy it. Sarah insists it’s true. Besides, he’s with Chloe now, and she hears it’s serious. He confirms, relaying that he just proposed. She scoffs, acting coldly toward him. “I guess all that’s left to do is wish you and Rex all the best with the baby,” Xander sneers. “Just be sure to let me know if he pops out with a Scottish accent.”

A smirking Sarah faces Xander with a hand over her protruding belly.

At the Pub, Brady sits alone, drinking sparkling water. He recalls Victor ordering Brady to steal Chloe away from Philip. “You were wrong about her, Grandad,” Brady glumly says. “I just wish you were still around so I could prove it to you.”

Chloe returns home to Xander, who tells her he didn’t get a chance to see Maggie. Chloe’s been thinking a lot about her. She took a chance that her love and devotion would make Victor a better man. After Xander cheekily points out it worked, Chloe says it’s inspired her to say yes to him. Xander wonders if he just heard what he thinks he heard. “If you heard that I can’t wait to be your wife, then you heard right.” Xander eagerly kisses her and puts the ring on her finger.

Staring into Chloe's eyes, Xander slides a ring on her finger.

A teary-eyed Sarah calls Rex from the mansion to accept his marriage proposal.

Outside the Pub, EJ runs into a surly Melinda. He doesn’t have time to deal with her because he’s getting a marriage license for him and Nicole. “Are you sure you want to do that?” she asks.

Coming home to Sloan, Eric looks for wine. After trying to get Shawn to stop drinking, “I”d kill for a drink.” He notices she’s upset. “There’s something I have to tell you,” she says.

Outside Brady's Pub, Melinda scrunches her face at EJ, who throws up his hands while making a point.
